Megan,
Good job getting your first post up. As we talked about, I think you should approach one of the vector art projects first. Either the MissMatzenBatzen or the Andrew Maximov. Remember you only need to copy a representative portion to figure out the techniques that work best. I will possibly do a recording post on Illustrator stuff tomorrow.
